Welcome to EB Promise! My name is Laura Dellicker and I started EB Promise in August of 2016. My involvement with EB began back in 2009 when I learned about it through Jonah and the Williams family. God laid EB heavily on my heart that day and my life has not been the same since.
I now partner with Patrice, Jonah's mom, and organize Jogging for Jonah every year, which is a 5K and Fun Run that benefits debra of America in order to raise awareness of and find a cure for EB. I'm on the Youth Leadership Committee for debra and recently got to be a part of the debra Care Conference (DCC) this past July. It was truly a privilege to have the opportunity to meet EB families from all over the country (and a few international families!) and to be welcomed into such a special community with open arms.

My passion for EB orphans ignited in the spring of 2016 when I learned of Travis, a two-year-old little boy awaiting his forever family in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. Travis is left on his back in his crib 24/7 and is rarely receives human touch, interaction, or care. I could not stop thinking about him; it was like God was yelling "DO SOMETHING!" at me and I had to find a way to respond. I knew I couldn't adopt him myself, as I am still in graduate school, but I could not stand idly by. I started advocating for Travis and am so extremely thrilled to say that he now has a family that is in the process of pursuing his adoption. But Travis is not the only orphan with EB who is suffering and is without a home. My heart ached for all of these children, and the nagging feeling that I had to do something was not going away. And that's when EB Promise began. The song "Do Something" by Matthew West sums up my passion in a few short verses...
"Do Something" (excerpt)
I’m so tired of talking
About how we are God’s hands and feet
But it’s easier to say than to be
Live like angels of apathy who tell ourselves
It’s alright, “somebody else will do something”
Well, I don’t know about you
But I’m sick and tired of life with no desire
I don’t want a flame, I want a fire
I wanna be the one who stands up and says,
“I’m gonna do something”
If not us, then who
If not me and you
Right now, it’s time for us to do something
If not now, then when
Will we see an end
To all this pain
It’s not enough to do nothing
It’s time for us to do something
And so, EB Promise was born. It is my hope and prayer that God will use this initiative to bring all orphans with EB home to their forever families where they will receive the love and care that they deserve. I'd love to talk with you more about EB and EB adoption. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or through the "contact" page of the site. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I look forward to fighting for all EB butterflies alongside of you!
